NAMI (National Alliance Mental Illness) Beautiful Minds Dinner, Iowa
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mitch and I along with Iowa Total Care, hosted a NAMI Beautiful Minds Dinner. We are so grateful to the government officials, CEO’s of organizations, and those providing health services who came and supported mental health. Our dinner raised the highest amount of donations for NAMI. Peggy Huppert, Executive Director of NAMI Iowa, is wonderful to work with! Thank you for your passion!
NAMI, Mental Health Awareness Walk, Iowa
NAMI’s walk for Mental Health was amazing! Mitch got to speak, I signed books we donated, and Iowa Total Care, Mitch is CEO, came out to support in huge numbers! Silence is Suicides greatest weapon. Let the conversation begin!
Homeless Shelter Fundraiser, Iowa
Central Iowa Shelter and Services threw a Heroes for the Homeless Event to raise money. Melissa O’Neil, CEO of the shelter, passion and drive is incredible. The shelter created an 8 acre garden complete with a greenhouse for the homeless to work in and provide fresh food for the shelter and surrounding restaurants. 45% of Homeless people struggle with a mental illness. Grateful to people who serve in this community.
Go Green Event, Iowa
Loved being a part of the “Green to Go Event” that provided over 1,000 bags of produce to attendees at Corinthian Baptist Church!

This event raises money for children with special needs. The children made costumes out of colored bubble wrap and put on a fashion show called, The Bubble Ball.
Easterseals Fundraiser, Iowa
Their work and mission for children with disabilities is incredible. The CEO, Sherri Nielsen, is so passionate about the work she does and is so inspiring! The statement, “We are all in this together,” kept going through my mind as Mitch and I talked to people.
NAMI Washington, Vancouver, Washington
I had the privilege of speaking at NAMI Washington’s Suicide Prevention Conference. These people work tirelessly to bring awareness and break stigma.
Wellstar North Fulton Regional Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia
I stopped at the ER department to give them donuts and my books to thank them for all that they do. I wouldn’t be alive had the ER Nurses and Doctors had not saw my life had value at a time I did not. They rarely get to see the afterwards of what happens to suicide survivors whose lives they had saved. We had a great conversation!
